The work analyzed during a recent conservative intervention by myself (September 2023), is a large wardrobe with two compartments with double doors, organized inside with simple shelves.
Originally, however, it responded to the type of archive: the original layout involved the division into four sections, each one equipped with a separate door with its own lock. This modification was probably carried out already at the end of the eighteenth century or at the beginning of the nineteenth century. The light blue or cerulean color, found inside, was certainly applied in this period: it corresponds to a custom in vogue in that era, well documented by many furnishings preserved in Tuscany (for example the large library of incunabula at the Municipal Library of Siena, early 19th century).
The work is in an excellent state of conservation: the covering with the frame decoration remains intact, while the painting is certainly the original one.
